Bridge hydraulics and waterway design
GK Cotton Consulting approaches the complex modeling of river crossings using the multi-level approach advanced by D.B. Simons and E.V. Richardson. The use of qualitative geomorphic analysis, quantitative engineering analysis, and detailed modeling improves the overall bridge waterway analysis and provides the framework to address many complex design issues. GK Cotton Consulting has refined this approach to complex river analysis through a series of unique and challenging projects.

GK Cotton Consulting is familiar with all levels of bridge waterway analysis and actively participated in the early efforts that lead to the systems approach for assessing stream channel stability at highway structures described in HEC-20. We have two decades of experience in applying these methods of bridge scour analysis as demonstrated by several publications and numerous design reports.

We are thoroughly familiar with the procedures in HEC-20 and HEC-18, and current FHWA and DOT technical requirements for bridge design. We have completed National Highway Institute training course in bridge scour analysis and hydraulic modeling, and have applied this training to highway bridge designs across the United States.
