Project Area

The Lower Lena Gulch study area is located in Jefferson County within the City of Wheat Ridge. The Lena Gulch drainage basin begins near Mount Vernon and reaches its confluence with the Clear Creek at Kipling Boulevard.
The study area for the lower basin begins Maple Grove Dam (29th Avenue) and runs approximately diagonally from 32nd Avenue and Ward Road to 41st Avenue and Kipling.

Project Goals

Identify existing drainage problems, stream erosion, and water quality problems within the study area and within Lena Gulch.

Obtain input from the public and the project sponsors to develop sustainable drainage solutions.

Identify needed stormwater conveyance, detention, stream restoration, and stormwater quality improvements.

Delineate the 100-year flood hazard area for Lena Gulch.

Prepare reports for the Alternatives Evaluation, Preliminary Design, and a Flood Hazard Area Delineation.
