River Development and Restoration
The land near rivers and streams offers an exceptional environment and GKCC has the technical expertise and creative ideas to achieve the most potential for a river-oriented development. Working in the river environment requires knowledge of river hydraulics, fluvial geomorphology and riparian ecology. A sustainable design achieves a balance between river dynamics, the natural ecology and the development plan.
We have achieved success with this approach on projects like the Rio Salado and Town Lake for the City of Tempe, Arizona. This project balanced the complex tradeoffs between new highway construction, an unstable and eroding channel, a degraded riparian corridor, and development plans that envisioned the downtown Tempe to the river front. The dream has come true – the City of Tempe has enjoyed a renaissance along six miles of the Salt River.
Our recent work includes the planning for river development in such complex environments as alluvial fans, mountain streams, and the wide floodplain of the South Platte River. We encourage a multi-disciplinary approach with land managers, restoration ecologists and our expertise in geomorphology, hydraulic engineering, and civil engineering. We offer a full range of services for land development design using AutoDesk Civil 3D.
